Scorpio literally translates as the “creature with the burning sting”. But Scorpio is not a scorpion to all cultures. The Javanese people of Indonesia know it as “the brooded swan”. In Hawaii, it is known as the demigod Maui’s Fishhook. In Chinese mythology, the constellation was part of the Azure Dragon.
In Greek mythology, Scorpio was identified with the giant scorpion that killed Orion, the mythical hunter. In one version of the myth, Orion tried to ravish the goddess Artemis, and she sent the scorpion to kill him. In another version, it was Gaia (the Earth goddess) that sent the scorpion after Orion had boasted that he could kill any wild beast.
The Transformer – changing form and undergoing metamorphosis in order for the soul to evolve. The soul is an absolute… it is a pure energy and can only change form, not disappear. It is a consciousness within and can only evolve… it cannot be destroyed. The Transformer seeks sexual union and the experience of the “little death” of orgasm in order to experience the merging of souls.
Scorpio Shadow Self
Manipulative, suspicious, controlling and secretive. Commitment issues and the fear of entrapment. Obsessions, compulsions and the inability to “let go”. Sexual malfunction. Sexually transmitted disease.
Scorpio is the 33rd largest constellation. The star pattern is a J-shape with the fixed star Antares placed where the Scorpion’s Heart is, and the two stars Shaula and Lesath creating the fishhook-shaped Scorpion’s Stinger. The constellation dips into the Milky Way’s stream of stars.
Scorpio Brightest Star
Antares which is Greek for “rival of Mars” is a fiery red and emerald green supergiant binary star situated in the Heart of the Scorpion, at a distance of 620 light years from Earth. It is an enormous 700 times the size of our Sun and is the 15th brightest star in the sky. Antares is one of the four “royal stars” promising honours and riches but with a stubborn and suspicious energy which could lead to sudden downfall. © Crystal Gaze
